Oven Barbecued Steaks
Ingredients
3 lbs round steak, ¾” thick 1 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp vegetable oil 1 Tbsp prepared mustard
1/2 c chopped onions 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
3/4 c ketchup 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c vinegar 1/8 tsp black pepper
3/4 c water
Instructions
- Cut steak into 10 equal portions.
- Pour oil into skillet. Brown each piece of steak on both sides.
- Transfer steaks to a roasting pan or baking dish.
- Add onions to oil in skillet and brown lightly.
- Add rest of ingredients to make a barbecue sauce and simmer 5 minutes.
- Pour sauce over steaks in pan.
- Cover, bake 2 hours at 350 degrees, or until meat is fork tender.
COOK’S TIP: This recipe can be frozen and baked later, so sometimes I put this in two baking dishes and bake one and freeze the other.
