Baked Round Steak with Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds round steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 chopped green pepper
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 1 10.5 oz can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • ¼ teaspoon thyme
  • Additional vegetables, such as carrots and potatoes, optional

Instructions

 

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Season the round steak pieces with salt and pepper.
  • In a Dutch oven over high heat, brown the meat in the oil on all sides; remove from the heat.
  • Add the celery, green pepper, onion, cream of chicken soup, thyme and other vegetables (if using) to the meat mixture; stir well.
  • Cover the Dutch oven and bake for one hour.
