Filipino Adobo Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- *1/4 teaspoon crushed bay leaf
- **Dash of annatto
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
Instructions
NOTES: *Substitute 1/4 tsp. dried thyme or 1/4 tsp. oregano for each bay leaf called for in the recipe, according to “How to substitute bay leaves in recipes” on “The Spruce Eats” blog.

Directions:
- Mix ground beef and ground pork in a bowl and set aside.
- Sauté garlic and onion in olive oil; remove from heat and add remaining ingredients.
- Work seasoning mix into ground beef and pork; avoid overworking the meat.
- Refrigerate for at least one hour to meld flavors.
- Form eight, equal-sized patties and grill until proper doneness. Click here for tips to grill perfect patties.
- Serve burgers on freshly baked pan de sal from a Filipino bakery or King’s Hawaiian Buns.
- Add your favorite toppings.
