WEST NC IOWA “FROM THE FIELD®” CROP REPORT 09/28/2016
While driving to Clarion last Friday, Sept. 23, I had to slow down to 25 miles per hour because water was crossing the road on Highway 3. Fields in Wright County were covered in water! Some fields looked like lakes. The longer this crop stays in the fields, the higher the risk there is of field loss. Wet corn is more prone to mold, dropped ears and downed stalks. If the pods got soaked by flood waters, soybeans are also at risk for contamination.
