SC MINNESOTA & NC IOWA “FROM THE FIELD®” CROP REPORT 09/28/2016

Weather continues to play a large role in my territory, as storm systems have brought wind, hail and water damage in their paths. Rainfall amounts totaled anywhere from 1.5 to 10 + inches for the week, leaving fields flooded and saturated making harvest difficult right now. There has been very little harvest progress has been made this past week, but activity started to pick up in the western part of my territory on Tuesday afternoon.  I had the opportunity to weigh my first soybean plot on Tuesday afternoon, and the yields were fantastic.  The range on the plot was 75.2 to 82.2 bu/ac, with three  Latham varieties braking the 80 mark (1858RR2, 2084RR2, 2228RR2).  If the weather cooperates, most producers should be able to start harvest by the end of the week.  Remember to stay safe this harvest season.
