In 1947, Willard Latham began a tradition of applied technology when he retrofitted an existing piece of farm equipment to assist neighboring farmers. Their future oat crops were being threatened by an outbreak of oats smut. Willard, one of the few college-educated farmers in the area, put his understanding of science to work, devising a machine to clean his neighbors' oats, securing future crops.

In the years that followed, neighboring farmers continued to turn to Willard for scientific solutions for their operations. Eventually, he transformed the Latham family enterprise from oats to a crop that was becoming extremely popular in the upper Midwest -- soybeans.

Today, Latham Seeds continues the legacy of understanding the needs of our customers by producing some of the highest-yielding, strongest standing seed for soybeans in existence. Family-owned and operated, we've become an industry leader by applying technology that contributes directly to the bottom line of the producer.
