Use FieldxField to Find Balance and Manage Risk
Understanding production-limiting factors allows you to push current yield and quality standards toward a new goal while managing risk.
With tight margins, our emotional response is to reduce all costs. We must remember, however, that many cost-control measures can drastically impact yield. It’s important to trust the proven system of hybrid selection on a field-by-field basis.
Let’s consider human health and wellness for a minute… there is no single medication to treat all medical conditions. Doctors take the approach of understanding the ailment and then use medications to treat a condition that is causing that person the most pain or harm. In a
similar manner, defining the production-limiting factors for each individual field allows us to address those factors that harm yield the most.
At Latham Hi-Tech Seeds, our broad selection of hybrids allows you to best manage the production limiting factors of that field. Each hybrid in our portfolio has incredible yield capacity, but each hybrid has unique attributes to help manage your production-limiting factors.
Trust but verify
“Trust but verify” is the Russian proverb made famous during President Ronald Reagan’s administration, and it applies to our research program. I’m personally a skeptic until I have tested something for myself.
During the 2017 growing season, we tested the forage quality of HarvXtra® with Roundup Ready® Technology beside our conventional LH 9120. Latham’s 9120 has received excellent forage quality reviews, but HarvXtra took forage quality to the next level! Our results showed that HarvXtra consistently had reduced lignin. It also delivered 20 to 30 more points forage quality points per cutting, which equates to roughly $20-30 more value per dry matter (DM) ton.
Take alfalfa yield and quality to epic levels with HarvXtra! Having confidence that you’ve done the absolute best possible job planning your experiment is key to having confidence in the results.
